I recently got a new Macbook. I am now getting a notification (beep) with every mute/unmute in Zoom (as well as joining meetings). This never used to happen and I find it quite annoying. The Plantronics Hub always me to set what sort of notification is triggered (single, double or voice) but there does not seem to be a way to simply turn these off. This is strange as I didn't have these beeps on my previous laptop. Does anyone know how I can suppress these?

Welcome to the Poly Community.

To start with a few basic questions, what was the Laptop and the OS before when this did not happen? Also what version of the Plantronics hub was being used? Could this be down to the OS?

Hello. I seemed to have resolved this. Basically Zoom has a setting under audio, "Sync buttons to headset". If enabled, every meeting join, mute, or unmute in Zoom results in a notification from the headset. However, I tend to use Zoom's settings for mute/unmute rather than the headsets.

So, if you disable this setting, joining a meeting, muting or unmuting, no longer results in a notification from the headset (my intent).

So it seems it was resetting my Zoom settings on the new machine that resulted in the behaviour change, rather than anything to do with the headset. I would propose however, that in the Plantronics Hub setting for Mute notifications which currently has, single, double, or voice as options, there really should be a "none" option for those who never want an audio notifications on these events as I find the beeps quite annoying and unnecessary. However, with my zoom change above, these beeps will rarely occur, so not a huge deal for me.
